My Story

Bodie’s love for business first began as a child. After her parents’ divorce, she lived with her dad in the High Sierras above Fresno for three years from age 9 to 12, and during that time she flew back and forth from Fresno to the Imperial Valley for custodial visits. Upon boarding the flight, Bodie always looked for a seat next to a businessman with a large briefcase, and she would pepper them with questions throughout the flight since she was so intrigued by what they did. As a result, she often sat by C-level executives who enjoyed waxing eloquent about their careers, and she learned a plethora of information about the way that business works from some of the most influential people around the world.

After returning to the Imperial Valley at 12, Bodie started helping her mother manage her two investment properties by vetting tenants, collecting rents, hiring gardeners, and making bank deposits, and that is what initially garnered her interest in real estate. Bodie worked as a real estate title representative after graduating from SDSU with a BA in liberal studies and has been a licensed real estate agent for 28 years.

In 1998, Bodie co-founded Mitchell J Architecture, Inc. She was the CFO for MJA and oversaw Business Development, HR, Marketing, Sales, and the Site Acquisition Division for the company for 25 years until her retirement in 2023. MJA was a wildly successful venture and the company, which specializes in wireless telecommunications design, completed over 5,000 projects during her tenure.

Bodie’s core value is to: “Leave people better than she found them,” and she has done that by volunteering as a mentor for several organizations over the years. She was a mentor for SDSU for the Aztec Mentorship Program for 3 years, for PLNU for the Master’s Program, and she was also a mentor for Commercial Real Estate Women, and Women’s Wireless Leadership Forum, for one year each. She also served on the Special Events Committees for BOMA, CREW and NAIOP for two years. When Bodie’s sons were younger, she was the Vice President for the PTF Board at their private school for 3 years, and she was also the parent coordinator for her son’s high school football program for one year.

Bodie had the distinguished honor of being nominated by the American Heart Association as a Woman of Impact for San Diego County in 2023, along with 6 other nominees for her contributions over the years.

She loves to network since she enjoys meeting new people and learning about their lives and stories. Bodie is a voracious reader and lifelong learner and has hundreds of books. She takes great delight in making high-level connections and introducing individuals who she feels can create successful collaborations. Bodie is also a published contributing best-selling author and a podcast guest.
